Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn Visits Increase in March

Compete.com has released their monthly normalized statistics report for March 2010, and all of the big three US social networks bounced back after a down month in February.

During March the number of unique visitors to Linkedin.com approached 15M, an increase of 3.78%. Facebook.com had just over 132M unique visitors, with a slightly lower percentage growth of 3.26%. Twitter.com, by contrast, had just over 21M visitors, effectively flat as compared to the prior month.

When you shift the perspective to the number of total visits, all three of the sites experienced robust traffic increases in March.

Growth by percentage on Linkedin.com outpaced the other services, with the number of total visits to the professional job networking site reaching nearly 71M (an increase of 14.33%). Twitter.com experienced a 12.33% growth (162M visits) over February, and Facebook.com exceeded 3B visits (a monthly increase of 8.76%).

Note that none of these statistics reflect access to the services from mobile devices or third-party applications, which in some cases approaches 50% of total traffic.
