Last week, Darren Rowse challenged the readers of his ProBlogger blog to Take the 7-Link Challenge - creviagraing a post with links to 7 posts that fit into 7 themes. Here’s my entry into the meme.
- Your first post – the first post I ever wrote on Speaking of Social Media was in January 2010. It was titled – “Lemonade” is Much More Than a Refreshing Beverage. As was the case with Darren’s first post on ProBlogger, this article was imported from another blog after I made the decision to get serious about my efforts and create my first self-hosted WordPress blog. A number of posts were imported from Posterous into WordPress to establish the basis for this blog.

- A post you enjoyed writing the most – A Job Search Success Story. I wrote this post as a salute to a very good friend that I made during her job search process; it made me happy to do it, and it pleased her as well. Mission accomplished.
- A post which had a great discussion – Ford Fiesta Movement Team Dallas at Cars and Coffee. I haven’t really cracked the code on creating good discussion in Speaking of Social Media, and I need to put more effort into that. As I go back and look at the comments now – posted before I had installed the Akismet anti-spam plugin – some of what I thought was earnest feedback clearly was not. Live and learn.
- A post on someone else’s blog that you wish you’d written – Thank You For Laying Me Off – How Social Media Changed My Life. This post resonated with me because Mike’s last day of work before being laid off was almost coincident with the date I left the only company for which I had ever worked. Mike’s journey since this post seeking employment in the social media arena has ended well, and I believe that mine will also.
- A post with a title that you are proud of – (She’d Look Even) Prettier in Pink. To appreciate it, you have to be a movie geek or old enough to remember the Molly Ringwald movie from which it was derived. I often wrestle over titles to blog posts, but this one came to mind almost immediately after I decided to write the article.
- A post that you wish more people had read – Monitor Your Personal Brand With Google Reader. Originally written for my Posterous blog, it just may be the case that most of its intended audience had already read it by the time I migrated it to Speaking of Social Media. It’s very valuable guidance for anyone in the job search, so I plan to update it for currency and repromote it in the weeks ahead.
- Your most visited post ever – Use BlastFollow! to Quickly Follow Tweeps Like You. I learned about this helpful service during a webinar a couple of weeks prior, and then promoted it in the hashtag stream for the next large webinar I attended. That turned out to be a good traffic generator that can be used over and over.
