All Good Things – The End of LOST

While it’s my intent to keep this blog focused mostly on social media, both in general and as it relates both to my ongoing job search, I think it’s important that such a forum accurately represent the personality of its author(s).

To that end, I must take a brief aside to note the upcoming end of the ABC Television series LOST, whose final episode will air on Sunday evening May 23, 2010 in the United States.

Over the course of its six seasons, through all its twists, turns, frustrations and joys, I have watched every episode of the series. I own the Blu-Ray version of each season released to date (and the first three seasons on DVD as well – make me an offer!).

I have a separate Twitter account devoted only to discussions of LOST, where I’ve been known to spend a fair amount of time on Tuesday evenings after the show airs in the Central Time Zone. No series since The X-Files has so captivated me.

I can resume that all good things must end.

Six years of filming concluded this past weekend in Hawaii, and co-executive producer Damon Lindelof informed the show’s millions of fans of the milestone via Twitter:

LOST Filming Wraps

Unlike many LOST fans, I don’t obsess over all the questions generated during the series run and worry how many of them won’t be answered. The journey has always been more important to me than the destination – I even (mostly) liked the controversial conclusion last year of Battlestar Galactica – and LOST has given me so much viewing pleasure over the last six years that I will always look fondly upon my time spent with it.

I’ll certainly miss LOST when it’s gone, but on the plus side, I’ll surely have a lot more free time on Tuesday evenings!
